Weathered Dresser in Tricycle

I have a quick before & after¬†to share. I’m going to try to keep it short and sweet!

before 1The dresser wasn’t bad but the tacky hardware needed to go and 1980 called and asked for its casters back! I had no problem obliging.

I used Tricycle milk paint (Miss Mustard Seed) and instead of it chipping, the paint came off as a powder when I sanded. I was okay with that because I think it gave this piece a perfectly weathered look. The wood was very raw and porous so the milk paint absorbed into the wood instead of chipping.
I watered down some black paint and did a quick wash over the red to deepen the color a little.

The pulls were nickel and I sprayed them with oil rubbed bronze and a metallic gold spray paint. I layered the spray paint until I got a color I liked. I think the copper hardware compliments the red and the wood just right.
